Amazon Adds HD Music<br />Tier to Streaming Service.<br />Amazon recently announced the launch<br />of Amazon Music HD, the latest add-on to<br />their popular music streaming service.<br />The new tier offers lossless versions of audio files for<br />both streaming and downloading at just $14.99 a month. .<br />That is significantly less than Tidal’s<br />$19.99 a month plan, which is their main<br />competitor for this type of high-quality audio.<br />A 90-day free trial is currently available to<br />listeners in the U.S., U.K., Germany and Japan.<br />Other streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music<br />have yet to launch a lossless audio plan for customers.<br />Amazon’s “High Definition”<br />music catalog has over 50 million<br />songs with a bit depth of 16 bits<br />and a 44.1kHz sample rate. .<br />It also offers millions of songs considered<br />“Ultra HD,” as they have a bit depth of<br />24 bits and up to a 192kHz sample rate.
